Side Hustles You Can Try Out In 2018

We all know that some people deceive others but what does deceiving one's self mean?
According to psychology, self deception is one of the popular escapement methods that people use to prevent themselves from feeling guilty while in the same time allowing themselves to escape from something that they don't want to face.
Of course people don't deceive themselves on intention but it’s their subconscious minds that come up with such tricks in order to protect their psychological well being.
If a student lacks self esteem when it comes to exams and if he is afraid to get bad grades he might find himself unable to concentrate whenever he tries to study without knowing why.
In such a case the student's subconscious mind came up with this brilliant self deception plan to prevent him from testing his self worth in the exam without feeling guilty!! The self deception part here can be noticed easily because the student will blame his lack of ability to concentrate whenever he gets poor grades and thus protect his self esteem.
According to individual psychology each self deception attempt has a very important goal behind it and the only way to prevent self deception is to help the person attain that goal in a different way.
For example, if a man was unsure of his skills and was afraid to test them in work he might turn into an alcoholic without knowing why. Using that self deception method that person can blame his alcoholism for his poor performance without realizing that its all a scenario set up by his mind to allow him to escape. The only way to help that man stop deceiving himself is to allow him to feel worthy.
Even stuttering can be a sign of self deception, one theory that was proposed about the psychology of stuttering claimed that its a self deception method that helps a person avoid social contact in order to prevent others from discovering that he is less worthy than them.
As you just saw it’s not easy for someone who used to deceive himself for years to suddenly admit that he was escaping or deceiving himself.
In fact it takes a lot of courage to find out the self deception plans your subconscious mind is coming up with because they are usually set up to hide something that you don't want to admit.
I still remember that man who had no social skills at all and who deceived himself by becoming a workaholic and thus blaming his tight schedule for his poor social relations.
Certainly reading more about psychology can help you get over your self deception attempts because one study found that most people tend to believe the information they read. If a friend or a psychologist told you that you are deceiving yourself you might not believe him but if this fact came to you through a book or an article such as this one then you might be able to believe in it with less resistance.

Lots of people keep fighting bad habits for prolonged periods without succeeding in breaking them. They sometimes manage to break the bad habit for few days, weeks or even months but in the end they return back to them again. The question is, why does this happen??
Its because those people never tackle the root of the problem behind their bad habit!!

Sam is a heavy smoker since more than 10 years. He tried many times to stop smoking and he even succeeded in breaking this habit for six months but he didn’t manage to continue to the end and he returned back to smoking.
Sam wasn’t a social person. whenever he had to sit with a group of people that he doesn't know well he felt irritated and uncomfortable. when he finds himself that irritated he usually grabs out one of the cigarettes and starts smoking.
When understanding Sam's mind you won't wonder why he can't quit smoking.
The root cause behind his smoking habit is feeling uneasy while being with strangers. Its his poor social skills that are responsible for his smoking habit.
Many people like Sam smoke when they feel uncomfortable, uneasy or irritated while believing that they suffer from nicotine addiction and that's why they fail to quit smoking!
Sarah’s story is no different than Sam’s story. She has been struggling with the habit of over eating without being able to stop it. Sarah managed to break the habit for sometime but eventually returned back to it.
Sarah Had almost no friends so her main hobby was watching television and of course her favorite show wont be that amusing unless it's accompanied by delicious food.
Although Sara adored food still this wasn’t the main reason behind overeating but the main reason was not finding someone to hang out with!!
People keep trying to break certain habits for years without succeeding as a result of not being able to spot the root causes behind them. Sarah and Sam were two examples of those people.
Just as you saw in the previous stories things that might appear unrelated to your bad habit might in fact be the main reason behind it!! Whether it was feeling anxious while being with strangers like Sam or whether it was having no friends like Sarah this root cause is what you should seek in order to be able to quit your bad habit.
Don’t fool yourself by thinking that addiction or having no strong will is the reason that is hindering you from breaking the habit. If one of these reasons was behind your bad habit then you wouldn't have been able to stop it even for one week!! In short, If you managed to break a habit for a short while then returned back to it again then know that you didn’t tackle the root cause
Find this root cause, eliminate it and you will be free from your bad habit, wish you good luck https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/f4c/1/16/1f642.png

How To Break Bad & Unwanted Habits

One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big advice on the door on which it was written: “Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been prepared in the gym”.
In the beginning, they all got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth of his colleagues and the company itself.
The excitement in the gym was such that security agents were ordered to control the crowd within the room. The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: “Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died!”
One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin: everyone who looked inside it could see himself.
There was also a sign next to the mirror that said: “There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU.” You are the only person who can revolutionize your life.
You are the only person who can influence your happiness, your realization and your success. You are the only person who can help yourself. Your life does not change when your boss changes, when your friends change, when your partner changes, when your company changes. Your life changes when you change, when you go beyond your limiting beliefs, when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your life. “The most important relationship you can have is the one you have with yourself”.
Moral: The world is like a mirror: It gives back to anyone the reflection of the thoughts in which one has strongly believed. The world and your reality are like mirrors lying in a coffin, which show to any individual the death of his divine capability to imagine and create his happiness and his success. It’s the way you face life that makes the difference.

Your Life Changes When Your Thoughts Change

A doctor quickly entered the hospital after being called in for an urgent surgery. He changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block. He saw the boy’s father walking back and forth in the hall waiting for the doctor.
Once seeing the doctor, the dad yelled: “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have the sense of responsibility?”
The doctor smiled and said: “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital and I came the fastest I could… now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work.”
“Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will you do?” said the father angrily.
The doctor smiled again and replied: “I will say what is said in the Holy Bible ‘From dust we came and to dust we return, blessed be the name of God.’ Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go and intercede for your son, we will do our best by God’s grace.”
“Giving advice when we’re not concerned is so easy” murmured the father.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “Thank God! Your son is saved!”
And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running. “If you have any question, ask the nurse.”
“Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state?” commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.
The nurse answered: “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery.”
Moral- Stay calm in all situations so you can make decisions the best you can, be it in life or business… and thank you doctors for the excellence works you do.

Stay Calm in All Situations

Why life is unfair?
Because you believe that it’s unfair.
Do you know what depression really is? Depression is a feeling that results from giving up when dealing with an external stressful event by becoming indifferent to it.
Let suppose you had a work related problem that you were unable to solve for months. If you didn’t respond to it or if you felt helpless for a prolonged period of time then sooner or later the stress resulting from the problem will turn into depression. It’s as if depression is your mind’s way of saying “I gave up” or “This problem is too big for me to handle, I lost hope”
But what does this has to do with fairness or unfairness of life?
It’s quite humiliating for your subconscious mind to accept the fact that you weren’t competent enough to deal with your problems, that’s why it doesn’t declare defeat directly but instead it searches for any possible excuse to blame it instead.
But what kind of excuse can make someone feel good while having a big personal conflict like this one? As you might have already guessed, a new belief about life, people or the world that makes the person a victim instead of making him incompetent.
“Life is unfair”, “No one can get everything he wanted to get” and “You can’t succeed before you suffer” are common examples of false beliefs that your mind might use as a decoy not to present you with the real fact.
So back to depression, when people give up in when dealing with stress they become depressed and when people fail to deal with life problems they develop false beliefs about it such as “Life is unfair”
Both are defense mechanisms but the false beliefs one is a very intelligent method as it protects the person’s ego!
But life is really unfair.
If you tried once and failed then surely you will find that life is unfair. Life was not designed for those who try once then give up but instead it’s more suited for persistent people who keep trying until they get what they want.
Ask any successful person, is life fair? He will tell you in the beginning it wasn’t fair for him but he kept trying until it became fair. Life will never be fair with those who don’t fight until it becomes fair.
Unless you keep trying until you create fairness life will always be unfair to you.
Another thing is that a failure is a step to success, two failures are two steps to success, and three failures are three steps to success and so on. If you fail you will learn more. Keep in mind that you are not a failure if you tried once but did not succeed rather try discover what made you fail in the first place and make sure you avoid the mistake you noticed in the first place that made you fail.
A popular quote states that “Aspire to acquire the desire you admire. Do not retire when you fire and it backfired. Rather refire to acquire the desire you admire in life.”
Only by so doing can you become a successful person and only through this way can life be fair to you.

Why life is unfair?

Mr. Ahmed: Who is your Role Model?
John: My seat mate.
Mr. Ahmed: Who is your Role Model? (Faces another student)
Adeniyi: Chike Obi
Mr. Ahmed: Clap that boy.
Class: (claps)
Chike Obi
Mr. Ahmed: Why did you choose him as your role model?
Adeniyi: He’s a great Mathematician and I want to be like him in future.
Mr. Ahmed: That’s great. Well, if you don’t know what Role model means, it simply means “A successful person in one or more areas of life and has touched your heart with his success and you wish to be like him”. (He told the story of Chike Obi).
After the story he told, the whole class wanted to be like Chike Obi. I no longer want to be any other thing more except A Great Mathematician. That’s when I know the value of mentor.

“Back in my youth I was trying to convince a very wise business man to mentor me and the price and risk suddenly became very high.
You see, my rich dad was my first mentor. But he wasn’t my only mentor.
Back in 1996, through a mutual friend, I met Peter. He was a distinguished and articulate man who has had his own companies listed on the American and New York Stock Exchanges and on the NASDAQ.
The problem was he was very private and did not mentor.
How was I going to convince him to take me on as an apprentice?
Over the course of several months I finally got him to agree to a meeting to talk it over. I told him I would work for him for free if he would teach me everything he knew.
Naturally, he was skeptical. But once he saw that I was serious, he decided to take my offer on a trial basis.
There was a bankrupt gold mine in Peru he was considering buying. He asked me to drop everything and fly to Peru at my own expense, inspect the mine, meet with a bank and find out how much it wanted for the mine, and then fly home and give him a report.
That caught me off guard!
At first I hesitated. I had appointments scheduled for the week, it was expensive and moreover, I wasn’t sure I was up to the challenge. But deep inside I knew this was a defining moment for me.
In those few seconds, I realized that if I chose not to go to Peru I would lose this valuable potential mentor. Setting aside self-doubt and swallowing all excuses, I decided to take a leap into the unknown.
Robert T. Kiyosaki
I flew to Peru and inspected the mine. It turned out to be an unwise investment, and I recommended against his buying it.
He agreed with my findings and more importantly, he agreed to teach me.
By shunning doubt and excuses, I gained the courage needed to take the next step toward my financial goals.
I am telling you this story to illustrate how important a mentor was to me and what I was willing to sacrifice to get a great mentor. Mentors changed my life.” – Robert T. Kiyosaki.

What else do I still have to say about mentor? With the little enlightenment above I hope I have been able to enlighten you about MENTOR.

Importance of Mentors

"Learning cost"

The price you pay for learning sometimes seems high hence it is called learning cost. Be willing to pay for what you don't currently know. The least thing you pay as learning cost is money.

Most people feel that learning cost is only just money, well that is their model of the world and I respect it. Truth be told there are more learning cost than just money. Guess you have seen people who can afford the cost and still can't learn. Learning always costs hence we call it learning costs but many will rather not pay it's full price for reasons best known to them. In learning there are no short cuts, what you know you know, what you don't know you don't know.

There are several opportunities to learn but all comes at a cost of which money is the least cost. The weird thing about learning cost is that we all see money as the stumbling block or challenge when in reality it is not. For our coaching session, we always let our clients know the TERMS of learning costs before we embark on the journey. For us the terms have always and will be

T - time
E - energy
R - resources
M - money
S - sacrifice

Everything in life is learned. Learning will cost you hence terms and conditions apply.

Three reasons you must consider paying learning costs:

1) Great learning isn't cheap and cheap learning isn't great.

2) you will always pay for what you don't know.

3) "practice, practice, practice" becomes your new mantra

Be brutally honest, all that you have truly learned has cost you something. Many times people pay learning cost without realizing they are paying it.
.
.
The interesting thing about learning cost is that if you pay it right once, you never have to pay it later twice.

Life offers you opportunity daily to learn, what stops us from gaining life's lessons are learning costs.

Whatever truly has worth has cost. When you don't pay learning cost you pay a high price for ignorance.

On the upgrade side of life, we have agreed to the terms and are paying learning cost.

Setbacks loses its effect when you see it from the perspective of learning cost.
