It can be difficult to admit to yourself that you may be an introvert. When we think of people as being introverted, we often wrongly assume that they are people who don’t like people. However, as Susan Cain so effectively showed the world in her book, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, introverts can be warm, interested in others, and powerful in their own right.
Yet the stigmas many still attach to being an introvert may lead people otherwise inclined to have these tendencies to resist if not deny them within themselves.
These nine behavioral signs of introversion can give you a start in learning about traits and attitudes that suggest your own personality may be less outer-oriented than you realize. See how many you feel honestly apply to you:
1. You enjoy having time to yourself. When you have the chance to take a break, you’d rather spend time reading, playing video games, or just listening to music. That quiet time is important to your sense of well-being even though there are plenty of times that you enjoy social get-togethers.
2. Your best thinking occurs when you’re by yourself. You’re not opposed to group meetings or discussions, but if you want to come up with a creative solution, you need some time to work the problem out on your own. Having the opportunity to reflect quietly on a problem allows you to make the maximum use of your ability to engage in original thought, and to produce results about which you can feel proud.
3. You lead best when others are self-starters. Despite the belief that introverts are so quiet that they can’t step up to the plate and run things, under the right circumstances they can be the best leaders of all. If the group is ready to lead itself, then the introverted leader will draw the most potential out of them. It’s only when the group needs a spark provided by its head that introverts might be unable to provide the necessary guidance. Then you’ll need to partner with an extroverted yin to your yang.
4. You’re the last to raise your hand when someone asks for something from a group. As you might remember from your elementary school days, there were some fellow students whose hands shot straight up into the air when the teacher asked a question or needed someone to volunteer. Extraverts tend to be ready and eager to stand out in any academic or social situation. You are probably more of an introvert than an extravert if you are content to sit back and let others take center stage. It’s not that introverts know less than others; they just don’t feel a particular need to be in that limelight.
5. Other people ask you your opinion. Just as introverts are less likely to volunteer in public situations, they are also less likely to volunteer opinions or advice in less public settings. Whether it’s a family discussion around the kitchen table or a staff meeting to decide how to market new products, people high in introversion will keep their views to themselves and let the noisy extraverts take control. Because of this, and because your advice may indeed be highly valued, it’s likely that if you’re constantly being asked “What do you think?” it might suggest that your behavior sends cues to others of your inner desire to focus your attention and thoughts inward.
6. You often wear headphones when you’re in a public situation. Whether it’s making your way through a crowded bus station or just navigating a crowded street, if you’re an introvert you most likely don’t seek a great deal of contact with others. In decades past, if you wanted to avoid interacting with strangers, you would keep your head down and look straight in front of you. Now you have the added protection of being able to hide behind the protection of your headphones (though no one has to know whether there’s actually music coming through them or not).
7. You prefer not to engage with people who seem angry or upset. You’re likely to try to avoid people who seem like they might be in a bad mood, if not outright furious at something or someone. According to research by University College London psychologist Marta Ponari and collaborators, people high in introversion fail to show what’s called the “gaze-cuing effect.” Normally, if you were to see the image of a person’s face on a computer screen looking in a certain direction, you would follow that person’s gaze and therefore respond more quickly to a visual target on that side of the screen than when the person’s gaze and the target are pointed in opposite directions. Introverts show this effect just as extraverts do, but if the person’s face seems angry, they don’t show the gaze-cuing effect. This suggests that people high in introversion don’t want to look at someone who seems mad. Ponari and her
team believe that this is because they are more sensitive to potentially negative evaluations. If you think a person is angry because of something to do with you, his or her gaze becomes a threat.
8. You receive more calls, texts, and emails than you make, unless you have no choice. All other things being equal, people high in introversion don’t reach out voluntarily to their social circles. If they have a few minutes to spare, they won’t initiate a call just to pass the time by socializing. Similarly, they don’t generate emails and other written correspondence but instead react to the communications they receive from others. It’s quite likely that if you’re a true introvert you would avoid jobs in which you have to engage in such outreach, such as becoming a telemarketing representative. If you have no choice but to initiate communications, such as when you invite people to a social event, you will be less likely to pick up the phone and make a call and more likely to send your request through cyberspace or the post office. This may relate to the desire not to be evaluated. By calling people, you risk being told “no” in person, which you may find demoralizing. When the request happens asynchronously (that is, not in real time), you may get the same turn-down but in a way that may allow you to save face, if not self-esteem.
9. You don’t initiate small talk with salespeople or others with whom you have casual contact. It’s nearly impossible for you to imagine yourself being like that the garrulous individual in front of you in line at the supermarket who chats with everyone about the weather. If you’re late or stressed, you don’t “leak” this information out to the people around you but instead just think it quietly to yourself as you mull over your plight. You may feel that it’s no one’s business but your own, or you may prefer to come out of your bad mood through your own personal stress-busting strategies. Either way, people don’t really know how you’re feeling or thinking at any given moment, unless you feel close enough to them to share these private reflections.
Being an introvert definitely has its advantages.
10.You’re less likely to make a social gaffe, such as by inadvertently insulting someone whose opinion you don’t agree with. Because you enjoy reflecting on your own thoughts, you’ll be less likely to get bored when you're alone than someone who needs constant social stimulation. The only risk you face is that people who don’t know you might think you’re aloof or that you feel superior to everyone else. Giving yourself permission to be a little more open in revealing your thoughts and feelings may help you make the best of both worlds, being true to your personality while not erring in the direction of seeming antisocial.

1) Touching: A person would hardly touch another unless he feels comfortable around him. In other words if a person touches you then this means that he feels good around you.
2) Clenched fist: A clenched fist usually indicates the build up of anger. It can happen when a person is about to fight or it can happen when someone wants to prepare himself for a physically demanding task.

A popular video capturing the moment 4 teenage boys gang-raped a girl in Ghana has ignited outrage on social media.
The boys overpowered the girl on the floor and took turns to rape her as she struggled for freedom. In the video, which is really painful to watch, one of the boys can be seen sitting by the girl's head, with his hands around her neck to keep her in place even as she struggled. As he did this, another naked boy is seen removing the girl's underwear after which he parted her legs and tried to penetrate her.
At the point, the girl cries and struggles harder, even closing her legs tighter to prevent the boy from going ahead with his evil intentions. The other boys are heard laughing as the girl struggles, and the boy holding her struggles even more to subdue her. Eventually, the naked boy had his way with the girl, after which he gave way for his friends to do same. The video which lasted a little over two minutes is believed to have been recorded by one of the boys.

The incident reportedly happened in Kumasi the capital of Ashanti Region of Ghana and the rapists are reported to be speaking the Twi language. Concerned people have called on the Ghanaian police to investigate the incident right away and ensure the culprits are brought to book.
In a press release by the police, they acknowledged intercepting "a video of what appears to be a gang rape involving a young lady and at least five men."
"In view of the serious nature of the act, as shown in the video, a special investigation team has been constituted at the CID Headquarters to analyse the video with the aim of identifying those involved and arrested for the necessary legal processes to be activated," they said.
They appealed to individuals with any information that will lead to the arrest of those involved to get in touch with their Cyber Crime unit of the CID Headquarters.
The Police also pleaded with media houses and individuals with the video to stop sharing it since it is an offence to circulate obscene material.  For this reason, this video will not be shared on this blog.

(Also Jumm'ah is a called a day of 'Eid')

"O Muslims! Allah Ta'ala has made this day-(Friday) a day of 'Eid'.
So have a bath on this day, whoever has perfume should apply it, and use the miswaak."

"Then when the (Jumu`ah) Salat is ended, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allah (by working), and remember Allah much: that you may be successful.'' (62:10)
Friday is the best Day of the week. It is the Mothers of all days and the most virtuous in the sight of Allah.In the sight of Allah it has more greatness than Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid –ul-Adha (Reported in Ibn Majah)
Only that believer is graced with the blessings and benefits of Friday, who looks forward for it most anxiously and eagerly ; and wretched is the negligent one who is least interested in it and who does not even know in the morning which day has dawned ( Imam Ghazali says Ihya ul-Ulum)
- Thus We should make preparations for Jummah from Thursday night, (which is Friday night islamically because is Islam we start with Night and end with the day until the followng night-Maghrib) The person who will receive the most benefit on Friday will be that person who waits for it and makes preparations for it from Thursday.

The Main merits of holy day of Friday are the first six;
1. Allah created Adam alayhis salaam on Friday and he was granted entry into jannah on Friday.
2. Adam alayhis salaam was sent to earth on this day as his vicegerent.
3. Adam alayhis salaam died on a Friday.
4. There is a blessed hour on Friday during which a person is granted anything lawful and good by Allah that he prays for.
5. The blessed hour on Friday is such that Duas are answered and accepted,(from my research its an hour in 'Asr to Maghrib)

6. The Day of Qiyamah-Resurrection will be on a Friday. It is on this day that the Trumpet will be blown on Friday; There is neither any angels nearest to Allah nor any heaven nor the earth nor the wind and a sea but all of them fear the Day of Jummah,that is why everything in the heavens and the earth including God's most favourite angels and mountains, rivers etc. stand in awe of Friday.

Its called jumm'ah because sayyiduna Adam alayhis salaam was put togehter on this day, meaning its the day he was born-This Milad. So whoever performs the Jumm'ah salah is actually celebrating Eid Meelid un nabi of sayyiduna Adam alayhis salaam. And "O Muslims! Allah Ta'ala has made this day (Friday) a day of 'Eid'. So have a bath on this day, whoever has perfume should apply it, and use the miswaak." (Ibn Majah).

The point now to those who object to Eid Milad-un-nabi of the Sayyid of the Children of Adam, Sayyiduna Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, is simple either stop praying Jumm'ah which is Kufr or either be quiet with your Munafiq-hypocritical behaviour and please learn your Deen correctly or celebrate the Milad un-nabi of Sayyiduna Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam which is the day he was born and is the greatest of all days.

7. Friday is Sayyid-The Master of the week, the best of days, like Ramadhan is Sayyid of the Month and Surah Baraqah is the Sayyid of the Quran.
8. In certain aspects the rank of the night of jumu'ah is even higher than Laylatul Qadr.

10 .One of the reasons for this is that it was on this night that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam appeared in the womb of his mother.
600,000 souls are freed from the fire of Hell each Hour, throughout the day and night of every Friday, even though all of them have deserved condemnation to the fire.

The birds and insects meet with one another on Friday and say "peace be upon you , may it be a good day".
11. Rasulullah's sallallahu alayhi wa sallam appearance in this world was a cause of so much good and blessings both in this world and in the hereafter that they cannot be enumerated.
12. There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted." (Bukhari, Muslim)

13. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: Of all the days, Friday is the most virtuous. It is on this day that the trumpet will be blown. Send abundant durood upon me on Fridays because they are presented to me on that day."

14. The word "shaahid" refers to Friday. There is no day more virtuous than Friday. There is such an hour in this day that no Muslim will make dua in it except that his dua will be accepted. And he does not seek protection from anything except that Allah Ta'ala will grant him protection." (Tirmidhi)
15. The word "shaahid" appears in Surah Burooj. Allah Ta'ala has taken an oath of that day. He says in the Quran: "By the sky in which there are constellations. By the promised day (of judgement). By the day that witnesses (Friday), and the day that is witnessed (day of Arafah)."

16. "Friday is the "mother" of all days and the most virtuous in the sight of Allah Ta'ala. In the sight of Allah Ta'ala it has more greatness than Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Ad'haa." (Ibn Majah)

17. The Muslim who passes away on the night or during the day of Friday, Allah Ta'ala saves him from the punishment of the grave." (Tirmidhi)
Surah al Mulk is the protector from the torment of the grave, so if you dont die on friday and wont know when we are going to die, its best to read every and memorise this surah also. There is a Surah which will plead for its reciter till it causes him to enter paradise (Tabarakallahi Biyadihil Mulk).

18."The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday. On that day Adam was created, he was admitted to Jannah, and he was expelled therefrom.''[Muslim].
19. "If anyone performs Wudu' properly, then comes to the Friday prayer, listens to the Khutbah (religious talk) attentively and keeps silent, his (minor) sins between that Friday and the following Friday will be forgiven, with the addition of three more days; but he who touches pebbles has caused an interruption.''
20. "Either some people (i.e., hypocrites) stop neglecting the Friday prayers, or Allah will seal their hearts and they will be among the heedless.''
21. Taking a bath (before coming to Friday prayers) is obligatory on every adult.
22. "It suffices to perform Wudu' properly for the Friday prayer; but it is better to take a bath.''

23. Every afternoon, the heat of jahannam is increased. However, through the blessings of jumu'ah, this will not be done on Fridays. (Ihyaa ul-Uloom)

24. The following verse : "This day, I have completed your Deen for you." A Jew was sitting near him. On hearing this verse being recited he remarked : "If this verse was revealed to us, we would have celebrated that day as a day of eid." Ibne Abbas radiallahu anhu replied : "This verse was revealed on two eids, i.e. on the day of jumu'ah and the day of arafah." In other words, what is the need for us to make that day into a day of eid when it was already a day of two eids?

25. "O Muslims! Allah Ta'ala has made this day(Friday) a day of 'Eid'. So have a bath on this day, whoever has perfume should apply it, and use the miswaak." (Ibn Majah)

26. "He who takes a bath on Friday, like the bath for ceremonial purity, and then goes (to the mosque), he is like one who offers a camel as a sacrifice to seek the Pleasure of Allah; and he who comes at the second hour is like one who offers a cow to win the Pleasure of Allah; and he who comes at the third hour is like one who offers a ram with horns (in sacrifice); and he who comes at the fourth hour is like one who offers a hen; and he who comes at the fifth hour is like one who offers an egg. And when the Imam ascends the pulpit, the angels (who write the names of those who come to the mosque before the coming of the Imam) close (their record) in order to listen to the Khutbah.''

The bath of Friday, pull out every sin of the man from its root.
One should understand jumm'ah is a day of Eid and so take a bath be neat and tidy, trim your hair or nails and apply perfume and deodorant and also wear a Turban. A tadition says "The Angels invoke blessings upon those who wear a turban on Friday".
THUS THE PERMISSIBILITY OF CELEBRATING EID MILAD-UN-NABI

Now with all this in Mind, that is All the above expressed the virtues of Jummah (Friday) by also saying that Adam (alaihissalaam) was born on that day. Therefore, imagine the virtue of that day when Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) was born! Who is the greatest of the all.

"One's deeds are shown to Allah on Monday and Thursday, and they are shown to Prophets as well as fathers and mothers on Fridays, at which time they rejoice for the good deeds, and the latter increase the brightness and light of their faces. Therefore be wary of Allah and do not harm your dead."

What Ibaadah to do on Friday
After Salaatul Jum'ah Recite:-
Soorah Al Ikhlaas (112)..7 times
Soorah Al Falaq (113) ....7 times
Soorah An Naas (114)... 7 times
Allah gives the person who recites the above 3 Surahs, protection from evil till the next Jum'ah.
The person who after completion of Salaat ul Jum'ah recites:
Subhaan Allaahil 'Azeemi Wa Bihamdihee . . .100 times.
Glorified is Allaah the Greatest and Praised.
When he does this Allaah will forgive his 1,000 sins and 24,000 sins of his parents.
The one who performs 2 raka'at after Maghrib on Friday night (the night between Thursday and Friday ) and reads in every rakaat once Suratul-Al Fatiha and Suratul Zilzaal ( Iza zul zilatil Ardhu ) 15 times-
Allah will ease for him the Sakaraat of Death ( the moment of death ) and will save him from the punishment of the grave and make easy for him the crossing of the Siraat.
It is mentioned in a Hadith that the person who fasts on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of every sacred month, he will receive the reward of making ibaadah for 700 years.
The person who recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a bright light lit up for him till the next Friday. (Nasai) Also Whoever learns and preserves, in heart and practice, the first ten Ayahs of al-Kahf, he will be protected from al-Dajjal
Whoever reads Surah al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah). Also the reward is as if they gave 10,000 Dinars gold coins in sadaqah.
‘Whoever reads Surah al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet to the clouds of the sky, which will shine for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven (his sins) between the two Fridays.’” The surah may be read during the night or the day of Jumu’ah. The night of Jumu’ah starts from sunset on Thursday, and the day of Jumu’ah ends at sunset. Therefore the time for reading this soorah extends from sunset on Thursday to sunset on Friday.
The person who recites Surah Ad-Dukhan on Friday night, will have 70,000 angels imploring Allah for his forgiveness with the result that he will have all his sins forgiven. (Tirmizi)
It is in accordance with the Sunnah to recite Surah Ha Mim Sajdah (41) and Súrah Ad-Dahr (76) in the Fajr Prayer on Friday.
It is in accordance with the Sunnah to recite Surah Al-Jum'ah (62) and Al-Munafiqun (62), or Surah Al-A'ala (87) and Al-Ghashiyah (88) in the Friday Prayer.
The best Dhikr one can do is Salawat ala Rasul or Durood Shareef as much as possible.

The Prophet SAW said that of all days, Friday is the most virtuous. Send abundant Durood on me on Fridays because they are presented to me on that day.


Whoever recites the following Salawat eighty times immediately after 'Asr Salat on Friday, before standing up from his place - Allah will forgive eighty years of sins, and grant him the reward equivalent to eighty years of worship -

"Allahumma Solli 'Alaa Muhammadinin Nabiyyil Ummiyyi Wa 'ala Aalihi Wasallim Tasleema." (Jami' As-Sagheer)
"O Allah bless Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and his family and grant them best of peace."
On Friday one should invoke Allah as often as possible for His blessings on the Holy Prophet, for the Holy Prophet has said : The best day for you is Friday because Adam was created on Friday and he died on Friday and Resurrection will take place on Friday. Therefore, you should invoke Alláh blessings for me frequently on this day, because your invocations in this regard are presented before me.
It is Allah's right on every Muslim to bathe during every seven days, by washing his head and body
It is also recommended that one should clip his nails for Jummah..
The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, insisted on wearing his best clothes on Friday therefore we should do likewise.

Friday Prayer is Obligatory Fard-e-'ayn
The Friday prayer is obligatory on the person who after observing it can return home before the nightfall.

Jum'ah is obligatory for every Muslim, except the slave, the woman, the child and the sick.
“People used to come from their halting places and highlands for the Friday Prayer”. (Bukhari)
Hadrat Abu Hurairah says : The Holy Prophet said :
“Listen! Some of you take their flocks of goats a mile or two miles away in search of food, but when Friday comes, they do not bother to come here to offer the Prayer. (He repeated this sentence thrice, and then said) The heart of such a one will sealed”.
“Allah will seal the heart of the man, who does not pray three Friday prayers out of negligence”
"The name of the person who abandons the Friday Salaat without a genuine reason, will be recorded as a hypocrite in the Book (the Preserved Tablet), whose writings can neither be scraped out nor tampered with.
Command for Friday Prayer: Its Merits and Importance
Friday Prayer is obligatory and this is supported by the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the consensus of the Muslims. It occupies an important place among the distinctive features of Islam. A person who does not believe in the obligatory status of the Friday Prayer falls outside the pale of Islam, and the one who abandons it due to negligence and carelessness, without a genuine reason, becomes a sinner. The Qur’án says:
O Believers! When you hear the call to the Friday Prayer, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave your trading; this is better for you only if you know it. (62 9)
Here remembrance means the Friday Sermon and the congregational service, and hastening implies that one should make necessary preparations for it and attend the mosque promptly.
This unusual stress throws light on the unique importance of the Friday Prayer.
The other prayers can be offered without the congregation and, if missed, can be offered later also. But not so the Friday Prayer. It is conditioned upon congregation and, if missed, cannot be offered later.
Therefore, as soon as the call for it is given, the Believers are commanded to leave their business and trading and hasten to the mosque for the remembrance of Allah.
The fact is that the remembrance of Allah for a little while and bowing and prostrating oneself before Him along with the congregation in full consciousness yield[s] eternal benefits for man far greater in value and worth than the temporary and meagre material gains that he craves for in the world.The Holy Prophet has said :
1. The Friday Congregational Prayer is obligatory for every Muslim, except the slave, the woman, the child and the sick. (Abu Da ud)
2. The Friday Prayer is obligatory on every person who believes in Allàh and the Last day; the one who ignores it on account of sport or fun, or trade and business, will be ignored by Allah, Who is Pure and Self-Sufficient. (Daraquini)
3. The name of the person who abandons the Friday Prayer without a genuine reason, will be recorded as a hypocrite in the Book (the Preserved Tablet), whose writings can neither be scraped out nor tampered with.(Mishkat)
4.I wish I should appoint someone as Imam in my place, and should go and set fire to the houses of the people who stay back at home and neglect the Friday Prayer. (Muslim)
5. Hadrat Ibn Umair and Hadrat Abu Hurairah have reported that they heard the Holy Prophet say on the pulpit : People are warned against neglecting the Friday Prayer, otherwise Allah will seal their hearts, and they will be condemned to negligence (for ever). (Muslim)
6.The one who hears the call to the Friday Praayer and does not turn up for it on one Friday, and then on the second Friday and the third Friday consecutively, has his heart sealed and is turned a hypocrite (Tabáranì) Alláma Sarakhsi says :
The Friday Prayer is obligatory according to the Qur’an and the Sunnah and theconsensus of the Muslims. (Al-Mabsut, Vol. II, p. 22)
Prayer's obligatory status is established by the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Ummah is that the person who denies this is outside the pale of Islam." (Fath-al-Qadir, Vol. I, p. 407)
Ibn Abbas says :The person who misses several Friday Prayers consecutively, has abandoned Islam.
The Holy Prophet has described the merits of the Friday Prayer thus:The one who had [a] bath on Friday, cleaned himself fully, used oil and perfume, then went to the mosque early in the afternoon and took his place quietly without pushing or disturbing the people ; then offered the Sunnat prayer; then listened to the sermon peacefully, he will have all his sins committed since the previous Friday forgiven. There are three types of men who come to offer the Friday Prayer:
(1) He who comes and indulges in irrelevant talk : such a one does not gain anything beside this.
(2) He who busies himself in meditation and supplications to Allah, which Allah may or may not grant.
(3) He who takes his place quietly and peacefully: neither he disturbs the people nor hurts them in any way: this mans good behaviour becomes an expiation for his negligences till the next Friday and for three days more, for Allàh says :The one who does one good deed, gets the reward for ten good deeds. (6 :160)
The one who washes himself clean on Friday, then walks to mosque (instead of riding), then listens to the sermon peacefully, avoiding every frivolous act and utterance, gets the reward of one full year's worship on every step of one year's fasting and one year's prayer. (Tirmizí)

In May 2015 when President MuhammaduBuhari was inaugurated as the 15th President of Nigeria, a lot of expectation was placed on him especially when factoring his numerous promises. Though, I will be fair to him by not judging his performance based on some of his ridiculous and unrealistic campaign promised.

PRE-BUHARI ERA
Chief OlusegunObasanjo
Since 1999, Nigerians have been desirous of a better deal from successive administrations for different reasons, a demand that peaked in 2015 which saw the sacking of the former ruling PDP administration of Goodluck Jonathan to usher in the present Buhari government.

While President OlusegunObasanjo was credited with his economic revolution that saw our external loan of $36 billion cleared, external reserve risen from a paltry $1.5 billion in 1999 to $45 billion in 2007, Excess Crude Account risen from $0 in 2004 to $25 billion in 2007, the entry of Mobile Telecommunication giants and crashing of phone tariffs, the various industrialization and promotion of local content that helped in agricultural growth, Nigerians were upset with the government due to its failure to fix power/electricity despite sinking $16 billion for the project. Despite the fact that Nigeria GDP maintained a growth of 5.5% in 2000, 6.7% in 2001, 14.6% in 2002, 9.5% in 2003, 10.4% in 2004, 7% in 2005, 6.7% in 2006 and 7% in 2007 from the 3% it obtained in the Abacha era, despite the fact that the administration created the two anti-corruption agencies, EFCC and ICPC- agencies that fought corruption to the point of prosecuting high ranking party members and officers of government , despite the fact that NAFDAC that fought successfully the scourge of fake drugs under the leadership of Amazon and Heroine Professor Dora Akunyili, Nigerians wanted more. Nigerians were upset with the government because the citizens expected more especially political stability, strengthening of INEC, The Police Force, The EFCC and ICPC and other institutions of the State. On the strength of the Naira, Obasanjo government deliberately and repeatedly devalued the Naira from 22/$ in order to allow for industrial revolution and give it its real value, which was pegged at 120-125/$ in 2007.

Umaru Musa Yar'Adua
In 2007, Obasanjo was succeeded by Umaru Musa Yar’adua of the PDP, who came through a somewhat controversial election. The late President would rather institute policies to see to the strengthening of institutions like INEC by initiating the electoral reforms. Musa Yar’adua went further to implement several court judgments that was ignored by Obasanjo, he created the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to tackle the problem of the region and initiated Amnesty process to pacify agitators in the creeks. The government reviewed the deregulation policy of the downstream sector by the Obasanjo administration and relaxed the pump price of petrol from N75/ltr to N65/ltr in order to accommodate the yearnings of Nigerians. Yar’adua was more of a pupilist President that reversed the power policies of Obasanjo and also reversed the sale of the country’s dilapidated refineries just to please labour leaders (actions I consider to be unfortunate). Under Musa Yar’adua, the country experienced a GDP growth rate of 7.2% in 2008, 8.3% in 2009 and 8% in 2010. To the credit of Yar’adua, the external reserve grew from $45 billion that it inherited in 2007 to $63billion in 2008 but finally at $47 billion in 2010 when he unfortunately died in office but depleted the Excess Crude Account to $9billion after the government partly yielded to the demand of governors. In 2007, Naira was exchanged in the range of 120-125/$ and was left at 150-155/$ in the parallel market, achieving a 20% increase. Nigerians wanted more.

Goodluck Jonathan
When Goodluck Jonathan took over government he continued with the electoral reforms of Yar’adua, he further implemented court judgments and signed the Freedom of Information Act. Jonathan took the agricultural revolution of Obasanjo to another level, a policy that saw a 25KG bag of rice falling to N8000 and a relative affordability of prices of other agricultural products. Under this era, Nigeria managed to achieve a single digit inflation rate under the administration, the government also achieved relative success in power decentralization and road and rail construction. The government was however unpopular due to the depletion of the reserve from $47 billion it inherited to $30 billion it left it, the depletion of the Excess Crude Account from $9 billion it inherited in 2010 to $2.1 billion despite oil boom period- no thanks to the demands of state governors to “share the money”, which most of them couldn’t justify. The government was also accused of not doing enough to fight corruption and even accused of being corrupt; the ongoing arms probe is more of an indictment. A further dent was the failure to tackle BH insurgency. Though the government inherited the naira at N150-155/$, it left it at N199/$ official rate and 220/$ in the parallel market. Despite the flaws of the government, the administration achieved GDP growth rate of 5% in 2011, 4.2% in 2012, 5.4% in 2013 and 6.3% in 2014.
Nigerians wanted more and brought in the Buhari administration with hope that he would achieve it.

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ERA
When this President came in, Nigerians were expecting improvement in their livelihood, job opportunities, zero tolerance to corruption, political and judicial stability and consolidation of the gains of the agriculture sector.

Since coming to power, instead of increase in living standard, Nigeria is experiencing massive decrease. Lots of job loss, the GDP that was experiencing marginal growth since 1999 shrank by -2% in 2016, inflation rate increased from 9.6% in December 2015 to a whopping 18.72% in January 2017, achieving over 100% increase. Price of basic commodities has shot astronomically high from what was obtainable before the government came to power. There have been lots of job losses with firms either downsizing or folding up completely. The government that came to power on anti-corruption rhetoric has repeatedly looked the other way in corruption cases that has to do with friends and officers of the administration. For instance, while OlusegunObasanjo sacked Fabian Osuji, his minister of Education in 2005 over accusation of bribery, Buhari has refused to act on SGF LawalBabachir, Ibrahim Magu, RotimiAmaechi, Speaker YakubuDogara, Raji Fashola and others indicted in one corruption case or the other, an action that has made rubbish his so-called arms probe. The President came with pledge to make public his assets and liabilities, yet, Nigerians have not seen to that. Instead of bringing fresh ideas to government, the President brought in those that were “former this and former that” under former governments of PDP due to their hunger to continue to remain in relevance, despite having nothing of value to offer.

We have a government that is running on the highest budget in the history of the country yet, the masses are crying and dying of hunger. Recession that was hitherto left in economics text books has now become an anthem in the lips of many. The government that pledged against medical tourism in foreign countries is the same government practicing it. To the credit of the government, Boko Haram insurgents are relatively contained but Fulani herdsmen have taken over with minimal challenge. Election in the country is now a case of thug of war as the government, instead of strengthening the electoral body (INEC) and security agencies to be more professional, has instead adopted the abuse of State institutions in the name of “federal might”. While the government instituted Whistle Blower policy, Nigerians are wondering whether the policy does not affect the National Assembly, because the President and the Presidency looked the other way when Kano state Rep member, Hon Jubril Abdul blew a very BIG whistle that has to do with corruption in the House of Representative including himself. In fact, Jubril was punished for daring to blow whistle. Under the administration, electricity tariff has increased by over 100% without a corresponding value of electricity and the power situation which was relatively stable in 2015 has worsened. Naira situation has worsened from official rate of N198/$ it inherited to N305/$ while the “real rate”/alternate market rate increased from N220/$ to N505/$, achieving a shameful 130% depreciation rate within a space of two years WITHOUT any form of industrial growth.

While the government inherited a country with fallen oil price, the oil price has been achieving growth since the second quarter of 2016. In fact, oil price has been at increase since January 2016. For instance, as at January 2016 it sold at $30 per barrel, in April 2016 it sold at $41/barrel, it sold at $52.62 per barrel in December 2016, $54 per barrel in January 2017 and now it is selling in the same region, but without anything to show for its growth.

Nigerians, including those that supported the administration are yet to understand the kind of government in place. Nigerians wanted a better deal and improvement in livelihood but are getting the complete opposite of what they signed up for in 2015. It is an indictment on the administration that some people are crying that things weren’t so bad previously (that is not to say previous governments were Eldorado).

Two years on, instead of counting our achievement, the masses are lamenting woes. The government keep blaming past administration yet without any solution to myriads of problems. What if Obasanjo had spent his time blaming the military regimes of Abacha and IBB? Nigeria is such a sorry mess.

President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigeria, he has made Nigeria a mockery in the committee of nations, it is only God that can give the Nigerians the grace to endure and survive his unfortunate leadership till 2019 when they will have opportunity to kick out the government for good.
